July Meeting

What lovely summer days to enjoy our beautiful plants!

It was so nice to get together and discuss our gardens.  There were some lovely plants on display, as always.

Lorna H. discussed the features of Erecta  novelty (known as Bon Accorde in England) including its interesting upright blooms. Melanie noted that Walz jubelteen is also upright. Ron brought a beautiful bougainvillea which he had started as a small plant. He added a trellis as it grows long shoots/vines. It is important that you just shape the branches, rather than pruning it, as the flowers come on vines.

Melanie did a clean sweep of the plant and bloom contests this month!  Ron noted that her Black Mamba Pelargonium was very clean, had perfect leaves, and had no blemishes.  She also won with a Pink Begonia, Pelargonium Auralia geranium rosebud type, and a Mrs. J.D. Fredericks Fuchsia.  Huge congratulations!

Of course, Tea Time was delicious, the Lucky Draw and the 50:50 were fun, and our speaker presentation was captivating!

Sorry if you missed it!

Be sure to attend next month (August 21) for our annual Plant Competition!
